Wakwekobi Lodge is a modern, spacious, well insulated executive cottage on stunning Wakwekobi Lake (known locally as Big Basswood Lake) of the wintering yard area, well suited for eight hunters.  Two bedrooms have king-sized beds with pillow-topped mattresses, one large bedroom, the “Bunk House” has two bunk beds (with double sized mattresses and box springs on the bottom).  The fourth bedroom, the bunkie, has another bunk bed, again with a double sized mattress and box spring on the bottom.  All rooms have baseboard heating.

The Lodge has a southwest exposure on a flat lot with a sandy beach.  The open concept nicely incorporates the kitchen, island, dining, and living rooms.  It has large windows throughout with a smart combination of country and rustic décor. The upstairs walkway overlooks the cozy living area below with the knotty pine cathedral ceiling above.  All floors are pine and all rooms and walkways are accented with knotty pine wainscoting.

Walking from the back door, your hunt can begin, with our 300 acres of private woodlands adjoining thousands of acres of prime undisturbed crown land.

Step from the living room to the spacious sunny lakeside deck. It has two picnic tables, deck furniture, and a large Vermont Casting BBQ with rotisserie.  Walk from the deck to the lawn to enjoy a campfire, horseshoes, or relax in the hammock.  The lawn merges onto the beach where the dock, a 16 ft. aluminum boat, or a canoe await your enjoyment.

In 2000, Wakwekobi Lake (Big Basswod Lake), was deemed Ontario’s clearest lake by the Ministry of the Environment.  It is spring fed, crystal clear, approximately 10 miles long, up to 3 miles wide and ranges 300 feet deep.  Fishermen seek lake trout, white fish and bass.  Approximately ¾ of the shoreline is in its natural uninhabited state including majestic granite bluffs, as well as secluded sandy beach coves.
